8 questions for Colonia Nova 

We had the pleasure of visiting Colonia Nova, an extraordinary event location in Berlin, in person. We took the opportunity to ask some interesting questions to gain a deeper insight into the company and the special features of this unique location, which not only offers space but also inspiration for unforgettable events. 

  

1. Who are the founders of Colonia Nova and how long has the event loft been around? 

Colonia Nova was founded in 2012 by Michael Haufe, an experienced event manager, and Fares Al-Hassan, a renowned curator, art dealer and auctioneer of contemporary art. Two years later, in 2014, we moved to our current home: an impressive, historic factory building on Thiemannstraße in Berlin-Neukölln. This striking building, once a major light bulb factory from the early 20th century, now comprises spacious factory halls and a spectacular roof, which are used as a first-class event venue and studios for professionals. 

 

2. What is the aim and focus of Colonia Nova? 

Colonia Nova is a creative center and event venue characterized by an appealing loft and a spacious rooftop terrace in the heart of Berlin-Neukölln. The event loft was founded in 2012 to create a dynamic space where creatives can come together and inspire each other. Our building in the vibrant center of the German capital promotes networking and mutual enrichment at all levels. 

 

3. Which use cases are the Colonia Nova premises suitable for? 

Thanks to its stylish design and modular room system, the Colonia Nova premises offer countless possibilities for use. The event loft can be used in a variety of ways for conferences, workshops, film sets, advertising productions, product presentations and fashion shows. The beautiful roof terrace is the perfect place for the next company party in summer with plenty of seating, well-tended green areas and a first-class rooftop bar for drinks and food.  

  

4. Which rooms does Colonia Nova offer? 

Our event loft in Berlin-Neukölln provides ideal work and presentation spaces for workshops, conferences, meetings and exclusive events. In our premium location, we offer a total of 16 bright studios ranging in size from 25 to 120 square meters for creative use on two floors. There are also well-equipped kitchens and an impressive 500 square meter roof terrace, which serves as a home for creative people from all over the world. 

 

5. What are the special features of Colonia Nova? 

The pearl of the house is our 500 square meter roof terrace with the best view over the south of Neukölln. With its own elevator access and located directly above the loft, the roof terrace is a special extra. Downstairs is your movie shoot or a trendy fashion show? The sky above Berlin and the rooftops of the city are the best backdrop to make your event perfect!  

The highlight of our hotel is the 500 square meter roof terrace, which offers a fantastic view over the south of Neukölln. With its own elevator access, you can reach the roof terrace above the loft, whether a film shoot or a hip fashion show is taking place downstairs - the sky over Berlin and the city's rooftops provide the perfect backdrop to make events unforgettable. 

 

6. What types of events can take place at Colonia Nova and which companies or people can be found in the event loft? 

Whether it's a barbecue, sunbathing, table tennis or a stylish cocktail reception - the spacious roof terrace of the Colonia Nova offers a wide range of possibilities. On 500 square meters of secure and versatile space, you can relax in the sunshine or under the moonlight. With palm trees, a sofa lounge, DJ or violin solo, there are numerous options available - anything is possible here! 

Colonia Nova brings together a wide variety of companies and individuals for unique events and encounters. Our premises are mainly used by start-ups and artists from the fields of art, fashion, web design, print and film, as well as entrepreneurs from MLA+ to Realities.io. 

  

7. What amenities or services does Colonia Nova offer to meet the needs of its customers? 

Colonia Nova follows the core values of diversity, creativity and exchange and strives to provide the best possible support and inspiration to clients throughout the event management process as well as to the professionals working in the studios. The use of the roof terrace, showers, kitchens and communal areas is of course available to all Colonia Nova members. 

 

8. Is there a special event or success story that has taken place at Colonia Nova? 

Since the opening, numerous events have taken place in the Colonia Nova event loft, and countless creatives, professionals and start-ups have used the studios for their projects and events.
